On this 250th anniversary of our United States of America, this painting was in tribute to the flag that has stood long for "We The People." God Bless our USA!!

This is a paper collage actually took longer to put together than most paintings. Scenes & titles built into the Eagle and surrounding icon are tidbits of history in the development of our nation. From the beginning of our nation's Founding through the tragic 09/11 incident, I've tried to put as much as possible into this 16x20" space.

Historic "skyscrapers" of the prairies stand tall against clouds of an incoming winter's storm.

As a kid I remember this old store along a backroad leading to the Black Hills of SD. It's name was Sulphur....very rural and of great help to the community being so far from a city. Now long abandoned, I decided to put it on canvas to depict an era during the 40's/50's.

Windmills and barns are icons of the west. Without them would cattle have survived the many droughts in the western US? Barns for sheltering cattle, horses, and hay. They saved many ranches and farms and continues to do so in current day.

Pawnee Buttes is a national grassland in NE colorado. Here, once again, the windmill is very important to survive droughts and get the rancher through hard times.

What better place for a bunny to hide than amongst the grasses under an old farm rake!? Only the sunspots might give him away!

This wildflower grows in the higher elevations of the Rocky Mountains. It is the Colorado State Flower.

"Aspen Peeping" in Colorado is a one to two week period in Autumn when folks head for the higher parts of the nearby mountains! This event is simply to view the beautiful Aspen color changes - as they move toward total loss of their yellow and red leaves. Peak viewing time comes quickly as temperatures fall quickly in higher elevations.

These renegades might be kickin' up dust or kickin' up their heels just for fun. It's the viewer's call as to whether they are wild mustangs or eager horses heading for the water tank or greener pastures. The race is on!

A walk in the mountains of Colorado often brings us to a grove of Aspen trees. This Aspen scene is in the summertime when the grass was green. A shaft of sunlight casts tree shadows and highlights the grass between the Aspens.

A red barn pops after a snow and particularly so when the sun comes out and bright blue skies overhead contrast with the landscape below. The barn and silo are located near LaPorte, CO (could be anywhere) and the horse inside the corral must be waiting on his breakfast!

What is more fun than to explore the Rocky Mountain high country! This backroad leading to Purgatory Village in southern CO (popular ski area) required a quick camera stop to catch the early morning light hitting the trunks of these extremely tall Aspen trees. What a quiet peaceful moment we enjoyed! While the road looks innocent for all types of vehicles, not so much toward the other end!

Yes, I've lived in mountain lion territory, but as an artist, or any human, they are not cooperative when it comes to posing for a painting! Thank goodness for a camera to help for future reference.

Having lived in the "high country" of CO for many years, the briskly cold winter nights with a full moon overhead really has stuck in my mind. So beautiful. I lived in a cabin similar to this...of course it had windows!

The Fall season brings many "leaf peepers" out to view, paint and photograph Colorado's beautiful Aspen trees and other Autumn colors in the mountain areas. This image is a painting of one of the scenes I loved.

On a recent trip to the SE part of Colorado we explored several waterfalls in the beautiful mountains. Spring Creek Falls required a hike, but heavy snow run-off brought down waters that roared in our ears and demanded to be painted.

This colorful rooster is obviously in Monet's Garden! He is up to no good and is a terrible pest to the famous artist. Well my imagination does run wild!

A very high narrow highway that everyone should take...though scary...is the Red Mountain Road going toward Durango, CO. This is a scene at the top of Red Mountain Pass. Springtime greens and distant mountains covered with mine tailings of the old Silver Boom era make the journey very worthwhile. This painting also depicts a typical spring day when red Indian Paintbrush are popping up in the high country Rockies.

"Sunrise Glow" speaks to a mix of warm and cools in in this portrayal of a wintery morning warmed by the light of day. Just when we feel that warmth of the sun, an instant chill hits as eyes fall to the deep blues of a very cold stream edged with ice.
